Luminibus is the most advanced point-to-point remote management system for public lighting systems
The operators through Luminibus obtain not only savings on costs and consumptions but, thanks to its remote management application, also the remote governability of the scheme, which in turn amplifies the efficiency of the service.
Moreover, with a single system, they can manage different systems: in fact, Luminibus provides multi-system management, accessible via internet from any navigation device (pc, tablet, smartphone…).
In the public sector, Luminibus allows to maintain the governability of the scheme and the updated view of its operating status even when it has been delegated to third-party management.
Activation of the individual light points… STANDALONE mode, if the expected result is to allow the individual points to operate according to a preset light profile.
The first step to benefit from the Luminibus technology is to install only its streetlight controllers: which is the Luminibus solution in the standalone mode.
Preset light profiles
In this mode, the lighting of the lamp is adjusted according to one or more preset light profiles and can be customized at source; their cyclicity takes into account the local ephemeris and is managed by an internal astronomical clock powered by a battery with a duration of over 10 years.
No additional device, only the street controller
The distinctive advantage of this mode of operation is the total independence of the lighting body, which requires neither an additional pilot line, nor a power management line or a wireless network, thus not requiring any additional infrastructure.
Fast installation and immediate activation
The installation can be carried out quickly; it does not require any specific competence, measurement activity or the consequent installation of other correction devices.
A team of two people can install up to 40 streetlitghs controller per day on average.
IP connection of the light points … remote management mode, if the expected result is to remotely control the operation and maintenance of the scheme on the basis of the data exchanged with the individual lighting points.
The Concentrator modules (CB200) and the Smart City Software (SMS) make it possible to enable a further range of services that once again lead to ADDITIONAL SAVINGS in terms of consumption, costs and pollution.
Remote management: knowing, planning and intervening at any time
These services allow the operator to remotely manage the system. He is able to know the operating status and the service values at any time and for any area and/or single lighting point, to intervene with changes on the light profiles (for example on the occasion of some event) and to plan preventive maintenance actions; but also to evaluate consumption and the activity carried out up to that moment.
Local or cloud remote management
The Smart City Software is web-native, based on a distributed architecture; this leaves free choice in the placement of application and system services (administration, databases and applications). It is possible, in fact, that they reside in a single server at the manager or in one or more servers distributed also geographically (for example the data server at the manager, the application server at our server farm).
This technological choice as well meets the possibility of starting the system gradually, without imposing ICT investments a priori.
Luminibus offers different types of nodes (i.e. streetlight controllers) that adapt to the technical characteristics of the streetlight.
The PLN powerline node joins the existing ballast (electronic circuit designed to pilot discharge lamps of different powers) to allow the luminaire to communicate with the control room via power line (powerline communication, PLC).
Luminibus® controllers are available in a wide multiplicity of versions: in-lamp IP20, in-pole IP67, NEMA®, Zhaga®, Lumawise® and with different communication protocols: Powerline Meters and More, NB-IoT and LoRaWAN.
The streetlight controller is instead used when the luminaire is equipped with a Zhaga or Nema Socket interface; in fact, through this connector the node connects to the existing ballast to obtain data and provide instructions based on communication with the control room. The node is installed only externally, communicates via NB-IoT and is equipped with a GPS receiver to also provide the position of the lamppost to which it is associated.
Regardless of the type, all Luminibus nodes transform the street lights in which they are installed into IP nodes able to communicate with a control room and to provide information on their operating status, values deriving from diagnostic checks, consumption and electrical measurements.

This way the operator has the opportunity to monitor the system with “fresh” and direct information supplied directly by the lighting points and to plan maintenance actions based on the situation highlighted by Luminibus; He can therefore intervene before a lamp stops working avoiding the citizen’s disappointment. All this results into a greater safety in the streets that are less affected by the lack of lighting.
The operator is therefore able to avoid the repetition of interventions on the same place in the same period and the consequent expenses.
He will no longer have to bear the costs for the technical rounds, the day-time switch-ons and other measures to check the lighting points and their operation: Luminibus will always take care of this check, at no cost.
Overall, the lighting service management is modern, efficient and drastically limits the expensive actions for its continuity. This is highlighted in the institution’s chart of accounts and results in a potential decrease in the tax levy on citizens.
The citizen will not have to call to report these situations because Luminibus will highlight them.
